COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT DNA TESTING

What kind of sample is required for a DNA Test?
A simple swab is required.
How is the sample collected?
Buccal cells are collected by gently rubbing a cotton swab inside the cheek. The sample is then sent to a laboratory and a small number of specific DNA sequences are examined to determine a person’s DNA fingerprint. If the DNA collected from the baby matches the same specific sequences as the father, paternity is confirmed.
How accurate is DNA testing?
By modern standards, DNA testing is considered to be the most precise testing method available. DNA paternity testing can indicate that a man is highly likely to be the father within 99.9% accuracy or that he is excluded as being the father with 100% accuracy.
